Arrow Pontiac G8 to survive as Chevy Caprice.

That's what Lutz is saying: Lutz says Pontiac G8 to survive as Chevy Caprice

Unfortunately it doesn't look as good as the G8. Some other interesting comments made in the artice about the Camaro and the CTS.

More political choices in the running of Government Motors. Get ready for some really bad things to happen in the future as the politicians stick their fingers in the running of the company. There is already a whole bunch of screaming about which dealers are being closed. "You can't close that dealer in my town"

I think the Lumina model they show looks better than the Caprice, but neither compare to the G8. I think eventually I will have to find a used G8 GT and hold onto it!

Best. News. Since. Camaro. Reintroduced.

I love the G8, and I think they would have sold more if they had named it "Grand Prix", but it's a great way to bring the Caprice name back. I want to get one just to order the Commodore facias and rebadge it as a Holden.

All I can picture with the name "Caprice" is some old fogies car with a big wide ass back end and and old man in his 80s smoking a cigar, driving 15 mpg. down the middle of the road.

I'm trying to think of some of the old models in the Chevy lineup that would be a better nameplate for the G8.

The other thing - wonder what engine they'll put in the "G8 Caprice" - anyone betting on something small?

PS - I'm willing to bet bucks that the Pontiac name will resurface within, say 15 years.

All I can picture is my Mom's old Caprice station wagon from 1982. Then I go on YouTube and find stuff like this:

Maybe they should have brought the Chevelle name back and added an SS to it as a like to the G8 GXP instead of a Caprice SS.

Chevelle sounds more fitting in this context than the Caprice name.

Wonder if it'll have fender skirts like the 1970's models (not).

Caprice is a lot better than G8...... I hope they don't use the Middle East Luminia front as a template though. I've seen much better Carpice/G8 makeovers.

Pontiac died years ago.

A Caprice could be cool. The name eventually became associated with the bloated big Chevy's of the early 70s. But when first introduced in '66 it was a luxury Impala. Same platform, a different more formal looking roof line, and more "toys" as options, as far as that went in those days. I remember people getting the interiors out of crashed Caprices and "gussying" up their Impalas.
