Route 66

Has anyone traveled Route 66? Me and my wife are planning on taking this trip some time. We are starting in Tennessee and getting on 66 in St. Louis and heading towards the Grand Canyon then coming home on I40.

I have driven all of what is left of the "Mother Road" some of it is great, some of it completely non-existent, but lots of cool stuff to see...Check out the Dixie Truck Stop in McLean, Illinois, a stop in Pontiac, Illinois and then in the west you will find tons of little stops, restaurants, roadside attractions etc...In fact let me know when you are coming through and maybe we can hook up for dinner or something, or if you are doing this run in August the mid-central run isn't too far off of Route 66 in central Illinois.

If you are going to the CG then make the trip to Williams. 66 runs thru it and some cool photo shots.

Also, along with everyone elses info, I think Old 66 exists more in the "out of way" Western States. Some neat places in NM, AZ.

Give me a shout when you're in St. Louis and we can get together. Maybe even get a few kicks on 66 for a few miles!
