Great thread...

When I was a kid, my parent's didn't travel much out of the Missouri / Illinois area but we did have some local ROUTE 66 historic favorites spots around St. Louis:

Route 66 Park-In Drive in

Ted Drewes Frozen Custard

Meramec Caverns

Coral Courts (No-Tell) Motel

Chain Of Rocks Bridge

wow what pics from both of you

i think the diablo canyon print was part of a collection brought to the antique road show... the story was that SF didn t like the artists perspective of featuring the land scape instead of the trains... they were giving the heave hoe to 100s? lithos and orginal prints... he asked for them... got them... the lithos turned out to be worth more than the orginal artist drawing... who would ve thunk.

i have a friend down in vegas that has chased train west to east and back. i ll share this link with him

thanks!!!

Oh yes... that was a great drive-in right off Watson Rd. (Route 66) in south St. Louie...

They had a final oldies cruise night where I drove my 69' Mopar to before it closed for good.

I still have one of their drive-in window speakers in my basement diner (grabbed one right before the final demolision...)

Sad to see that place go.

Indeed.. I grew up less than a mile from there.. you could almost see the movies at night from our backyard.

I'm not sure on the KSHE history, but IIRC, they started broadcasting there or had done so for a long time.

Maybe, just maybe - if Gordmans and Best Buy fall out, someone will invest it back to what it once was. Could you imagine the crowds if they brought it back?
