you need a few more axles to be ultimate... just saying.

Licensed for 166,000 lbs btw. 15,000 per trailer axle, 17,000 per tractor drive axle and 12,000 on the steer axle. Stopping is not the issue... getting it going takes some finesse.

I had noticed the big azz steers, Michigan and Ontario allow them up here as well. I am not a fan of them. We use to be able to put 12 or 20 (if you had the tires for 20) on the steers and then split the rest of the gross on 10 but now with Michigan hurting for cash quite a few of the DOT Officers will run you across the scales and single out your heavy axles. Not a fair practice but it is how the book words it so you load it up under gross and cross your fingers the officer isn't a dink if you have say a 72,000 coil and a 25,000 or 30,000.

Empty weight is around 38,000 to 40,000 but keep in mind there is 30 -40 chains, binders, 10 or so coil bunks and lumber to sit the coils in. Never know what configuration you will need trip to trip so ya got carry MORE. More equipment = more weight.

Real fun part is that the trailer is a 48'er, the last two axles and the front three are lift axles so when you are running empty it shortens up your wheelbase.... kinda feels like pulling a pop up trailer at that point and you have the urge to try and go thought McDonald's drive thurs

That "Pete" does have enough axles under that covered wagon, no doubt.

For the record! I'm not competing for the biggest tow vehicle at all. There are rigs around here that can haul twice what I can and do on a daily basis. Then there are the rigs that can haul stupid large loads that come by now and then with special permits that make me look like a dinky truck.

My mom and dad told me they loved me quite often and my wife and I are happy with my small... ahem :) Nothing to compensate for here move along folks.
