I think that it is just so easy for all to forget that there are rules on this as any Fourm.
Even some of the old timers are forgetting these.
Two rows of pics, listing all of the mods done and the ones coming.
Maybe we all need to take a few minutes and look our own Signatures, to see if we are violating this Rule.
It is hard for the Newbes to understand the rules if the old times are breaking them!

Even though I have a signature myself, I have my User CP set not to display them in messages. It makes for alot easier reading when browsing threads. So unless another member reports your sig, I never see them. Please take a few moments and make sure your signature is within the parameters set in the site rules: 500 x 100 and 100 kb. It allows members with slower connections to be able to use the site.

Please don't get pissed at me jx3......I'm just busting balls. Personally I don't mind when someone violates the sig rules if it's within reason (like jx3) but some people have to put a half page pic of their car, a mod list, a user bar, a link to become a member, a link to another site, a short biography about themselves, the car's "birth" and "adoption" dates (A personal pet peeve...I hate that stupid ****!), and 10 .gifs' dancing around on top of it all.

I didn't realize I was breaking the rules with mine, so I removed all the mods and born on dates to shorten things up. I appologize also, I should have read the rules more carefully.

There must be some post missing in the first page of this thread, unless Snoopy is having a conversation with.....an imaginary friend

Just because you have fiber optic does not mean it is wide open for unlimited speed. 15 meg is good for a home connection.

Fiber ranges from OC1 to like OC192 depending on what type of fiber equipment will determine your speed. There is also alot of other factors that will reduce your speed.

I have ComCast and depending on where im going to on the net determines how fast my connection is to that site.

Try this site http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

It will test your connection speed to various places in the US. I get up to 30.6 meg going to SF for download and 1.6 meg for upload.

The reason for slow uploads is so people dont hoat there own servers at home.

Fast Connections are great for those who live in areas that have them. Up until last spring all we have out here in the country was dial-up. Our carrier finally did the upgrades to offer DSL and at 125K.

What some do not realize is that the animations also affect the downloads.

So please remember the point is to be courteous to us slow-bees.

On behalf of the people with other slower connections, we thank you.

Now its time for cell phone service to make it here.. I still wanna punch the cell phone guy in the mouth..

While I understand the need for the guidelines for sigs here, please let it be know that I talked with Sindy a very long time ago (back in August of 2006) and it was agreed that I could make the sigs for the members just slightly larger that the 500 X 100. Thats the size that I have used for all these months for many members here, but if management here is unhappy with the size, I will move all the sigs that members are linking to from the album where they reside and break all the links here on the forum...just say the word JonyyB or moderators.

Personally, I think the sig lines are a small issue. If you don't want to see them or wait for them to load, they can be turned off. I was on dialup at my boyfriends for nearly a year before getting hi-speed and they loaded fine, however, the thing that did lock me up was pages with tons of pictures. I think one guideline or courtesy that should be extended to members is putting "Dial up users beware" in the subject line when posting a thread that has a bunch of pictures, as I know back in my dialup days once I entered a thread, it was hard to get back out until all the pictures loaded.

Don't get defensive, Deb. I recognized, long ago, that some of the sig's were very slightly out of the rules.....who cares. Nobody is criticizing you. I think the criticizms develop when, as others have mentioned, the signature becomes "excessive".

As for the missing posts...... Some were removed by the poster after I took our discussion to PM. As you may have noticed, it obviously was resolved.

Sigs that slightly exceed the site requirements are fine. As Snoopy said though, some become excessive.
