I went to Germany in '03 to visit family and seen a ton of these cars running about. I remember thinking "why don't they import these to the US?". It's great to see that actually happening 
I'd go along with driving one myself, if everyone else on the road drove one too.

In the 360 virtual tour, it looks like there are two roof panels that lift out. Is that correct?
I drove a Chevy Chevette for 18 months in the early 80's because it was all I could afford. I only put passangers in the back when I absolutely had to. A rear-end collision could kill them!

and was almost killed in a head on collision

I can't imagine what it would be like to drive along side or behind an 18 wheeler in one. 
We've had them up here for a year or so.
I saw one with a personalized plate that said SPLATT
