Those body styles had lt1s. The ls1 wasnt introduced until I believe 1998. Thats if he didnt do a motor swap. Anyways, saaaweet ride!

 

No doubt. The Formula verts were heavy, too. He was only pushing 275 HP at the crank if he didn't have any mods. A 330 HP LS1 T/A WS6 may have kept up.

 

i dought he could have kept up either way as i have around 500 hp with my 383.
he said it was an ls1 from a vette?
not sure what the ta`s weight is but the chevelle was right at 4000 lbs without me in it.
the whole thing wasnt really about who won it was more just about havin fun and seein what are toys could do!!!

 

I doubt he had an LS1--did it have an aluminum intake plenum or did it look like a bundle of black plastic snakes under the hood. If it was an LS1, he probably didn't have it tuned right, and those were good for 350 HP in the 'Vette.

It doesn't look like a T/A from the picture, more like a Formula. I don't think Formulas had as good a rear end or suspension on 'em. More top end speed. The 'vert would be pushing the 4000 mark, so you would've schooled him even with a stock LS1 under the hood of the 'bird.

Nice Chevelle. My Dad had a yellow one back in the day. He rolls a '95 Vette now.
