So..How many others have lost their prime dealership?

This is what happens when you don't get out of the house enough...was out on the bike today(86F out!!) And on the way back home from a buddies house took notice that the local dealership had a rather EMPTY parking lot!!Last time I saw it it was overflowing..no warning..no flyers..all cars moved offsite for sale. Now I have to go establish a new complaint department! Just as well since they combined with the Chrysler dealer and replaced all the hired help with the their own people......same ones that let a red SS sit on the showroom floor with a flat front tire....great sale tactic!!!
Mine closed Oct 1st, 2008. However, another dealership group moved in January. Small town dealer. I don't get it, given the current market why would someone open a new dealership? And a small one at that? The other brands within 50 miles owned by the same dealer group are Honda and Lexus.
We lost out Subaru dealership 3 weeks ago. But we did see Subaru say that Charleston is too important to them to not have a dealer and they would be opening a new one in 90-120 days. I figure it has to be given to a large corp in town as opposed to someone opening a single car dealership with it.
I'm totally expecting the dealer I bought my HHR from to be closed by GM in the downsizing since I'm sure they aren't going to close the "corporate dealers" in town. That's the shame of it since the little guy is good and the big guys stink.

Lost my Pontiac dealership last July. Found out they were closing that day when I took my Solstice in for a recall. I decided to get it done elsewhere. The service people were not in the best of moods that day.
I'm guessing. But I'd suggest that a list will not be provided until ALL details are worked out.....with the "doomed" dealers as well as Government Motors. My under standing from my dealer is....most haven't been told and GM (and probably some dealers) is still in the "calculation" process.
Of course, I'm not saying he is absolutely correct ot truthful

Noticed the Chrysler / Jeep dealership that has been on a corner near where I work for more than 25 years, looked open for business on Friday, and then on the following Monday the lot and showroom were virtually empty. Just found out they moved and combined with another dealership at a nearby "automall".
