i had a Nikon D40 but it was too much camera for me.

Nikon D70s, SB800 flash, and a few lenses.

It does the trick :)

I *almost* bought the Canon S5 IS. Awesome camera and I doubt you'll top it for the money, although the Nikon CoolPix P80 might be better but for slightly more money.

I ultimately decided I didn't need the extra features of the Canon S5IS and got a Canon SX100IS instead for less money. I just got it two weekends ago. Still learning all it can do. Along with the camera I got a 4gb Sandisk SDHC card and over the Memorial Day weekend I picked up a AA/AAA size NiMH battery charger and four AA NiMH rechargeable batteries. Just need a cheapo carrying case and I'm set.

Ahh! A question close to my heart!

Canon EOS 20D, a few lenses, a nice tripod, and an external flash that is still a mystery to me. Well, I can use it, but not always to great effect.

Does anyone know of a camera shop that will take trade in's? I have a Minolta 35mm with case/tripod/telephoto lens/filters...i'd like to trade it in on a new digital SLR. Wasn't sure if anyone did that anymore.

I got a Kodak EasyShare CD33...cost about $100 2 years ago. It works alright for what I need it for. When I can afford one, I'd like to get a DSLR, but that won't be for a while.

You can try B&H Photo/Video, Adorama, or KEH. All deal in used and new equipment, KEH in particular specializes in used. All three are great companies that are trusted by professional photographers and serious amatuers everywhere.
