Some kias...

Yes, they are having 10 year warranties. I wonder if they will be around long enough to satisfy them.

yeah but they dont honor their warranties at all. my aunt bought one and a ball joint broke within the first few thousand miles. took it to the dealer and the dealer filed the claim to kia and kia came back and said that she should not drive over pot holes and voided that section of her warranty. wut a jip EH?

kia/hyundai always gave me excellent service and fantastic reliability. sounds like a dealership problem not a kia problem to me.

in fact my daily driver is a 2000 elantra with 141,000 miles on it and the only repair ever made on it was a wheel bearing last week.

it has been the most reliable car i have ever owned.

No problems with our KIA at all. Funny how I haven't had to replace the head gaskets or engine yet. By the time we had this many miles on the Pontiac Montana, we were on our second set of head gaskets due to the dexcool antifreeze issue. Honestly, the KIA has been a great van for us, and I do not regret buying it. I have no idea what I will replace it with, but it doesn't look like we will be replacing it anytime soon either.

I'd be more concerned that GM isn't going to be around next week let alone in 10 years

Ball joints do not break on their own. Come apart - maybe. 'Taint warranty work.

From the Hyundai web site (yes they own Kia)

Covers repair or replacement of powertrain components (i.e. selected Engine and Transmission/Transaxle components), originally manufactured or installed by Hyundai that are defective in material or factory workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. Coverage applies to Original Owner only effective with 2004 Model Year and newer model year vehicles. On 1999-2003 Model Years, coverage applies to Original Owner and immediate family members (i.e. wife, husband, daughter, son, stepdaughter, stepson).

Second and/or subsequent owners have powertrain components coverage under the 5 year / 60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Excludes coverage for vehicles in commercial use (i.e. taxi, route delivery, delivery service, rental, etc.).

Note the selected coverage???

well she has nothing covered for the next 10 years. the dealer is working with her to get the warranty reinstated and did the work on the joint free of charge. im hoping it works out for her.
