Sponsorships

I'm sure that everyone has come across those car sponsorship banners that are on some web pages but has anyone actually signed up.I'm just curious because I signed up and then got an email back saying approved.Next step is give them money.Any thoughts on this?

I have no idea what banners you are talking about. Are you talking about aftermarket sponsors to turn your car into a show car? If that's the case you would chose who you want as your sponsors, contact them and let them know about your project and provide them a list of shows, compitions, or races you are commited to and entered in and then they decide if they want to sponsor your project. You shouldn't have to pay anything to anybody, but you do have to show them absolute 100% proof that you are going to promote their products in the publics eye or they are going to tell you no. Otherwise they would be shelling out millions of dollars in parts just so everyone can ride around in a nice car. Sponsors only come with commitment.

They are supposed to hook you up with sponsors to customize your car into a show car. They ask you how many weekends a year you would be willing to show your car and if you would put small decals of your sponsor on your car.I dont know I always thought the kids with the stickers were kooks but maybe they are the smart ones getting free parts.

It's a scam. The kids you see rolling around with product decals are just that, kids rolling around with product decals. See the big Audiobahn logos on the side windows of my HHR. They don't mean I'm sponsored by Audiobahn it means I like their product and I want everyone to know I have an Audiobahn set up. It is just a way to show off what you have done to your car. Esecially the kids driving imports with the entire row down the hood, fenders, or doors. They are being cool and letting everyone know what they did to their car. You are never going to get sponsors unless you can show them a solid commited schedule of events where you will be showcasing their products. Otherwise they would be throwing away money.

No I had an uncle (George Peters) who ran a TA/FC (The Rainbow Rider) in the NHRA and IHRA so I know a little bit about sponsorship first hand. He also had to deal with contigent sponsorship and so forth. You will not find sponsors unless you can give them proof that you will be promoting their product. Using a small scale example would you sponsor a skateboarder that was just going to ride around town on a deck you gave him and is not going to enter any compitions and bring any recognition to your shop? It would just be tossing away money! I have known a couple of kids with product stripes down their car and also I have put a few product decals on my rides. It is just showing off what you have, thats it! Manufacturer decals come with just about every aftermarket part you buy.

One of the guys here in AZ signed up with them and after you send them the 80 bucks they have you sign a contract that says you only buy stuff through them. You have to show for a certain number of events and take pictures of the progress of the car. It's all just a big joke and a scam. You can get cheaper and nicer things from Ebay. They give you a credit account with them and he has had this "sponsorship" for a few months now and has had nothing good come from it. He has no idea where and when to buy stuff. In layman's terms... it sucks! Not worth the time or money. Save your money and buy some stickers and make your car LOOK sposored!
