The same guy from Chrysler designed the HHR and SSR, that is what they have in common.

Later model years got the larger engine... If I were to get an SSR, that is what I would look for.

Get 2005 or 2006. They have 6.0 engine instead of 5.7 in earlier models.

Very heavy vehicle, I think it weighs just under 5,000 lbs. But agree go for the 6.0, they take 8 qts of oil, fwiw.

You can get a stick shift on later models, only auto on the early ones. They have different trim levels. Most laid out will have chrome rims. & etc.

And, make sure you do a good check for evidence of water leaks. That retractable hardtop was problematic that way.

They never figured out who would want a P/U with no usable bed. They were attempting to compete with Plymouth's Prowler but why? Just to get some design work out of the guy maybe.

Bag of golf clubs should fit nicely.... At local Cruise in, a new guy just got a '05 SSR & I was checking it out, he was wanting to show me how the top opens.
He went to open it & it quit 1/4 way open. I felt bad for the guy.

I would suggest anyone google up an SSR forum, there is much to be learned there, Prior to a purchase..
