Street Machine Club
Street Machine Club
I received an application in the mail today to join the National Street Machine Club as a charter member. Dues are $1.00 (yep, One Dollar) a month which includes a first issue of Street Thunder. I've never heard of them, have you?? http://www.streetmachineclub.com/
I got the same thing from them shortly after the NSRA street rod nationals a few months ago. I guess they got my information from NSRA. So far I have gotten that about three times. I guess it is not a bad deal if you need it, but I am satisfied with what I get from NSRA so don't need NSMC.
Don't join. I got the mailing last year and joined. They keep sending me books every other month. I send the book back immediately. Of course they have a PO Box. They still insist I owe for two books, that were sent back! I never signed up for the book club....can't wait for my year to be over. I have yet to receive anything in the mail without them asking for money.
I had to call these jokers yesterday... As I said, I have been getting mailers from them for several months. They try to make it look like a bill so some people might think they owe them money. I always just ignored them. I got one yesterday that said how they had accepted my membership four months ago and had been sending me magazines and a charter member kit, etc! They had one their part but I had not done mine! Needless to say I was upset.
Of course, they don't list any phone numbers on their website so I did some searching and found their parent company, North American Membership group. Also no phone number. So I did a whois on the domain and got the phone number of the guy who registered the domain. He does work for the company but not in a capacity that could help me but he did give me a number.
When I got the lady on the phone and started telling her why I was upset, it was like she couldn't get me off the phone fast enough. She apologized and said she would take care of it. No questions. Nothing. Obviously lots of people don't like their tactics and she gets lots of calls. I predict this club will not last very long unless they make some changes.

Hey Songman,
keep that info handy. If the members start receiving "stuff" like that, from them, we can bomb them with spam and phone calls.
It's surprising how well this works. I belonged to a group that "bombed" a spammer in Michigan, to give him a taste of his own medicine. Again, surprising how well it works.
