thinking of 17's

My HHR came with 16" wheels. I'm thinking of getting some 17" rims and performance all season tires. Is there a downside? Upside?
Any experiences or opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Danno

My hhr came with the 17 rims and I just switched to Good Year American Eagle. I like them so far. We got hit with couple inches of snow and decide that the stock tires had to go not enough traction and were starting to crack had 40k miles on them.

Downside: a slightly stiffer ride; you'll feel more of the road imperfections.

Upside: a more "connected to the road" feeling, better cornering.

If you like a plush ride and don't like to push it in on twisty roads, you'll gain nothing.

I'm riding on 15" snow tires right now, so it feels quite floaty, but the snow performance is outstanding.
