Took the Astro in the shop for a rear brake job.

The van needs a rear brake job, so i took it in the shop today.

It's a 2003 Astro AWD, with rear disc brakes. It only has 68000 km (about 43000 miles).

The parts guy at the dealership told me they have in stock two different brand of rotors that can be used for the Astro, the GM brand, and the Ac Delco. He then quoted me $418.00 for EACH rotor, for the GM brand, and $196.00 for the Ac Delco. Does not include the brake pads or labour.

I remember buying a set of TWO front rotors for my 1991 Chevy Cavalier RS for $40.00....

you can use the delco they will be fine. that is a very good price for delco my supplier for delco sells for 260.00 per rotor so 195.00 not bad. I would pay as a repair shop 161.22 per rotor. you could buy a second line rotor at 82.00 per rotor that is for bendix what they call white box rotor.

The Delco's are made in China....

Anyways, i'm happy to find out that $196.00Can is a good price. It's my first brake job since my Cavalier, so i wasn't aware that prices had gone up that much.

Your getting ripped off

I can buy a rear rotor with a 2 year warranty from AutoZone for $47.00 for that vehicle. I can also buy a pair of Baer rotors which only have a 3 month warranty for $240.00.

My 04 Astro factory rotors made it to 178,00 km did you see if they could be turned.I got my new ones from Car Quest for around $90.00 each and put on some ceramic pads.I did the fronts the same time they were $10-15 cheaper still cost me $450.00 to do myself.
