Black Beauty...I never said that Iraq had anything to do with 9/11.I never thought so either. This current action was brought about by Iraq's non-compliance with UN inspectors and the surrender terms of the first gulf war.Our President acted on erronious intel reports about the possibility of Iraq having WMDs.If you remember, even most of the Democrats in Congress voted for us to go.I think Iran should be next.If that group of radical Muslim dirt bags are allowed to develop nukes,no country in the Middle East will be safe.Especially Israel, which the so-called President of Iran is on record saying "should be wiped off the map".

I had daughters, not sons, so I have no emotional pulls. I am completely confused on this issue. You could convince me that we need to stay or we need to come home OR that we need to go into N. Korea or Iran. I say this because I think it's a shame. It's just too complicated. I don't even read the paper.

But of COURSE I want to bring them home - I didn't want them to go there to begin with. Well, actually, at first I thought "Wow, a chance to do this right and not leave it all messed up like Vietnam". We'll liberate these people, get the bad guys, and they will be so grateful and set up a democracy...." NOT!!!

I keep thinking of all the people we could have helped out of poverty, all the kids we could have fed or housed, with the amount of money spent. But had there not been Iraq, it wouldn't have happened - that money wouldn't have gone to rehab/disability for those workers poisoned during 9/11 cleanup efforts, Katrina victims or other wonderful causes. And, with every one of those wonderful causes -- there is potential for graft and theft and embezzlement and sickos and some aren't even real bonified charities.

I just want someone in CHARGE - some wise people to fix it all, and it's too big.

I think of the men and boys who would be alive today with ALL 4 of their limbs intact. And then you tell me that we had to go in there because of (whatever). I'm not a dumb person - - I'm just an average uninformed one, and there are jillions of us out there. Some of us just can't get our minds around such monumentally complex, in soluable issues. What just blows my mind is that there ARE people who know enough about it all to even take a stand! My hat's off to you guys - E for effort.

Yeah, it`s that whole non-compliance thing ,the "Hey show us the weapons we sold you" thing.
What webs we weave, when first, we try to deceive.

Some people you can not change their thoughs if you showed it to them directly. WMD's. I love how everyone states the Iraq had none.... Tell that to all those that served from 1991 until now, in that region, that Iraq had no weapons. Then what were all those Scuds that flew overhead during those 10 years before 9/11? Granted, chances of being hit were slim.... But each one landed someplace. How about the missles that shot down our aircraft? Guess that was just misleading.

Some of you say you served, I'm wondering where and in what area? Seems to me you never had to actually go into combat. I remember when the Gulf War first started and all the "objectors" came out. Stated that never join they military to "fight".

This was my last trip in, I was in country 9/25/01. You can probably tell what my job was.

I retired two years later and still miss most of it. Even when someone is threatening your life. You can believe all what the news tells you. If you even think you hear 10% of what is real, you are way off. I guess the Gov and the middle east are responsible for all the snow the east coast is getting and causing our gas prices to rise. Damn their good.

I'm done with this. Everyone know what happens when you argue over the internet......

The troops will not be coming home anytime soon.. without a complete change in US leadership. The "oil patch bubba's" invaded Iraq in order to begin the process of controlling the flow of Mid-east oil. There is no other logical (to them) explanation for the war and now that they are over there & making billions of dollars in the process, there is no way that they will give it up. All of the rational put forward has been debunked over & over. Iraq was never a threat to our freedom or security and there was certainly no "imminent danger of attack" (even if they had WMDs, which they didn't & the administration knew it, they had no way to deliver them). It was then and is now, all about oil. The flag waving is for distracting the innocent.

Thanks Solman98...well stated. My son was there for the first time several years ago too.Such is the life when you choose to make a difference. And I am done with this also.Except for one thing, and I will probably make some people angry when I say this, but I think there are two types of people in this country, those who have or are now protecting our liberties and way of life and those who are just enjoying them. I`m hearing a lot of talk about what people have done, but those same people could RE-UP and put those typing skills to work, and let the guys with like (I want to go to the front, but I`m stuck behind this desk) minds, go and protect the Iraqi freedom that you seem to want at any costs.
You guys don`t seem to be too old or disabled to lead the CHARGE.
