One reason I asked was, If I see a reply and the persons real/nick name is used, I don`t always know who the original statement came from, or what context the original post was in. If the username is used, I can go back and very easily see what was said.
I`m not gonna go through everyone who`s posted profile to see who is who, and that`s a crap shoot also when two people with the same name have posted in the thread.
I`m not sure if the profile area was necessarily made visible so that you have an option of names to address other members by.
It`s sorta strange to have someone checking your profile every time you post.
Bottom line: my username is there for you to address me by, whether it`s my real name or not, not an option to be disregarded just because you can find my real name... Unless I`ve said otherwise, That`s disrespectful...

Ok BB (as I have seen you called) or Black Beauty which ever way you prefer, I do not think anyone will call you by your real name. Seems that this thread and your poll was a little useless. Seems more like someone called you by your name and you did not like it. IF that is the case you should have just taken it to a PM to clear it up.

Simple solution, don't want people to say your name, don't post it and don't put it in your profile.

Since the profile is something you do when you join/enter the membership, you have no reason to think the profile will be used on a regular basis, nor can you un-profile.
The simplest solution would be for members to address each other w/usernames, but that may be too simple...
