My dad had a '51 Chevy also. Ours was a two door model. He bought it around 1960. He had been driving a '48 Pontiac Chieftain with the straight 8 and automatic transmission, but spun a bearing in it and while he was gathering parts he needed another car so he bought the Chevy.
When he pulled the block out of the Pontiac he built a heavy duty A frame thing to put the chain hoist on to pull the engine with.
That A frame became a bench swing when the job was finished. It was pressed to service to pull several other engines before it finally rotted to pieces.

Was'nt banned, But i'm back .
Day off today , gonna do my first oil change on the new motor , and a clay bar on the SS.
The cady V is a pipe dream, Maybe in a few years i can get a used one.
I've been away for a while as well. Still have the SS, but have been giving more attention to the good 'ol 87 Silverado 4x4. She sat in my barn a little too long, so needed some light engine work (vacuum, gaskets, etc) as well as a paint clean-up. Still original paint; just needed elbow grease. She'll be 25 years old in April. Been on the 73-87 Chevy Truck site for some info. Honestly, they're not as accommodating as the folks here on this site.
I removed the cap since this pic and installed a soft tonneau.
