VW Bus

theres a small chance i might be picking up an old school 70's VW bus, i was wondering what you guys could tell me about them, as far as reliability, can they get to hwy speed (65mph here), if there hard to work on?

i know the body is in pretty decent shape, if i get it ill be buying it from a friend of my g/f who's husband does body work/painting, but is there anything structurally or mechanically thats common to go bad in these

i bealive its gonna look like this, but in a super deep purple (hey my balts lazer blue,so purple isnt a big deal to me) minus the rims n stuff of course

obviously im not looking for a speed demon, just somthing i can cruze the strip in, take to local shows

I had one...pop up camper version. Heat is about non-existent. It will get to 65mph but you want to be going down a 6% grade at the time Will probably leak oil. BTW...did I say they are loads of fun?

What happens in my bus stayes in my bus!

Once you get the adjusting the valves down, it'll be a breeze and fun nostalgic van to drive.

Get the "VW IDIOT" book. For reals, thats what it's called.... Mr. B is an official graduate!
