And they also say people are living longer.

Go figure.

My guess is that this is about to change...

I went to a waterslide park with my kids this summer, and I was astonished to see the number of overweight < 10 year old kids. It was a real eye opener for me. My kids, who are 100% healthy btw, looked skinny in comparison.

That convinced me to keep the kids on a healthy diet and to keep them moving (exercising), as well as to finally seriously attempt to loose the extra 25 pounds that I've been carrying myself.

If the current trend continues, the average life expectancy rate will decline sharply!

Based on these calculations, the researchers estimated that life expectancy at birth would be higher by 0.33 to 0.93 year for white men, 0.30 to 0.81 year for white women, 0.30 to 1.08 year for black men, and 0.21 to 0.73 year for black women if obesity did not exist.
Boy, big numbers there. Maybe a cause for you to die a year sooner. In general, people live longer today than they did many years ago when there was no fast food. Not saying if people ate better it wouldn't help. Cause I agree, there are a lot of fat people out there. My wife will certainly agree to that. She goes shopping for clothes and the average size is 10-14 for women. And finding clothes her size (3-4) is impossible at times. What people call average size today is rediculas.

When I came back from a two week trip to southeast Asia two years ago, I knew that I was back home in the states when I looked around in the airport and I was surrounded by fat people!

I thought Massachusetts would be higher. We seem to have lots of young girls who are cute and overweight........"pretty fat". At work I also see more hispanic folks coming in who eat nothing but starches and fried foods.
