My favorite cars would be our VWs.

We have a silver 1976 with the hard sun roof (I've blew that motor 2 years ago, but did a transplant), and we have a 1971 Baja.

My dad worked on them for about 8 years, so there isn't much that we can't do with them. The transplant motor sat in an open garage exposed to snow for 20 years and it fired right up!

I didn't drive it, my brother was driving, but it was a 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX. The car was running an open turbo @ 21psi with some other mods, supposedly putting out 525 hp at the wheels. The HKS blow off valve sounded sooo sweeet and once the boost kicked in, that b1tch pulled so much you could feel the front tires lifting up

My favorite car was a 1963 Hillman Super Minx that I bought from a private party in 1971. It had about 40,000 miles on it and was in perfect condition. I was so impressed with it after the test drive that I gave the seller an extra $100 because I thought that she underestimated it's value. (She reluctantly accepted the extra money).
What I really liked about it was the sound of the 4-speed gearbox - it was loud in 1st and 2nd gear and made a turbine-like sound (hard to describe) that was pleasing to me. Reverse gear howled like a cat with it's tail being stepped on. The 65 HP four-banger was the ultimate in simplicity - a singe barrel downdraft carb that you could rebuild in 5 minutes, camshaft driven fuel pump that could be changed out with no trouble, breaker-point ignition......cars were so simple back then.
Plus, it looked unusual and like nothing else on the road - battleship grey with a red rolled and pleated interior. It never failed me. I saw it on the road years after I sold it. It was easy to spot - I never saw another Hillman in the USA, let alone a Super Minx.

There are 2 cars that i have had in my life that are just about tied for the most fun. 69 GTO, and a 90 Mustang 5.0 lx hatch back. I'll give a slight nod to the GTO but i think it's because i was a teenager when i had it and just thinking of all the crazy stuff i did with that car brings a smile to my face.
