What would you do?
I try not to grocery shop after work because Wal-Mart is full of screamers. These kids are tired and hungry but the parents put their own needs in front of the kids. The crying and often screaming drives me crazy. I did not let my boys cry for no reason. You know the old saying "stop crying or I'll give you something to cry about!" It worked!
The only choice you have is C unless you know the family. You may have some success talking to the parent. They might then let you try to comfort the child. The age of the child can greatly affect the action you take.

The only reason I could see doing A or B is IF you know the child, and the parents know you, and understand your intentions. Otherwise you are just asking for trouble. I understand how you feel, and I agree it's tough to see a child crying, but even good intentions can be misunderstood and turned against you.
