Thanks for the kind words on the picture folks. I just try to do my best.

When I'm not running the store or helping the Katster, I'm taking pictures and posting. Oh and of course modding the HHR!

Hope you don't mind the occasional Katy shots We are so proud of her. Oh yeah, she loves the HHR! Much better than that Vibe that had the seat belt that constantly thwarted her
Still, she'd like it more if it had a tv

Some days I just catch her, she turns and there it is:

Hi there. Thanks. I just use PS 7 and do some tricks using layers and changing image sizes. Layers are your friend
I actually shoot in a format called RAW with Canon DSLRs. From there I tke the image file and change it into a JPG or Tiff by processing it through a RAW converter. The advantages of RAW over shooting say JPG are many. A great deal of the parameters which make up an optical digital file can me manipulated to a greater degree in the RAW state as opposed to manipulating JPGS.
Another reason for shooting in RAW is that it can be changed in the future with a newer RAW converter to yeild a different effect. Here is an example.

15.8 minute shot taken aound 1AM in almost total darkness.
It was foggy and I could only see the beacon and a few light glows on the left. This was over a mile off shore.
I love burning in time exposures as they create a different world.

I decided it needed a high contrast panoramic look:

Then a year later I got another RAW converter and felt different that day making the following:

Funny, in this instance neither one shows the truth as a human would have seen it. Time exposures allow one a lot of flexability.

Thanks for looking. If you need any help with pictures, feel free to ask. I may be able to help, but I'm no expert, just someone who knows my way around a little bit.

I am here, was watching a movie and got sidetracked with it.
If anyone has not seen the movie United 93 it is worth watching. Has nothing to do with politics. Yes we all know the sad ending to it, but still worth watching.

Here's a pic from her first day of school:

Though I did help bring about the controversy in the original Pictures Only thread Too much blogging leads to a backlash I guess.

I gotta go. Just enough time to go to the mall and get shin guards for the daughter!

Really nice work on the above. She is a gorgeous child. Reminds me of my grand daughter (yeah, I am that old...look up my profile...I'm proud of it). She's almost 11 now, going on 17. You know how that is. The center of attention and the center of your universe. By the way...how old is she???

Anyway, is that what all the sulking is about? The photos thread?

Come on, people. If it got a little out of hand...let it go...it's over. Again, most of us are adults, we can form our own conclusions from what ever was posted. But, I don't think anyone really had the INTENT to do harm to another person.....it seemed more like a game, really. We are "family" (sounds like a song)...again most of us..and this should not cause a division between us (notice, I said us...I'm not taking any side here, but I believe I am part of THE family).

You know, after proof reading this, I need to ask a question.

WHAT are the rules, if any, for the Dungeon?

Oh, and sorry...I am not directing my comments at the end, to you Harpo...more to the sulking people. But, if you wish to respond, that's fine. It seems that, you, I and 4-5 others are the only ones around.

Yeah D...

Rented it the first night. Great Doc. A lot of the people in the movie were the actual people in the towers, military, ATC, etc. But, it still pisses me off that my "relatives" (I'm part Arab) did this.

Anyhow, I do agree and recommend it.

Thanks for the kind words. Katy is 6 3/4 ( Yes she is learning fractions to help with this getting older thing ). She was born December 26 and is our only child.

Yer a granddad, eh? So you've been through it a couple of times. One up close and one at a slight distance
It's all good. Life just moves by so quickly. Almost no time to be nostalgic. Hence I take a lot of pictures and some videos.

Yeah we got a bit fast and furious that last night in the Pictures thread. A lot of fast "blogging" with at least four of us blasting posts up almost simultaneously. I found it all in good fun, but there was an underlying feud playing out so it seemed.
I have thick skin and shrug off perhaps a bit too much stuff, but I can understand being a bit more restrained next time. Vulgarity loses its impact when seen too much. The old "Numbing" effect one hears about can be true at times.
It does seem as though Americans are a bit quick to be at each other's throats these days as well. The talking heads on hate radio and "political" TV shows have brought civil discourse to a new low. The worst I've seen in my lifetime.
I have friends on both sides of the political spectrum and they live in different worlds.

Tolerance is a virtue few seem to make the time for these days. My right wing friends cringe when they hear the word It has taken on such political baggage that the word itself is now considered a smear by some.

That's too bad, because that is what most of us here have, tolerance. In its true sense. That is why we all more or less get along in the forums. As many say, you don't like something or some one, ignore them/it.

I'm sure posting will undulate for a while, but I can see this forum only getting stronger as the HHR owner base increases. Chevy has a real winner here and a percentage of HHR owners will want o find this forum. It is here for them and us and thanks again for everyone making it such an enjoyable place to be ( with a few bumps here and there )

Robert,

What great pictures!!!

I have not been here much because I work 12 hour night shifts, 3 in a row, the past 3 nights. So all I do for 3 days is work, sleep, work, sleep, ck. email, work, sleep.... now I am off for 2 nights but have to work on the house I am restoring, then work another 3 nights in a row, then off 6 days.

Whew, I am tired just typing all that!

Thanks for kind words. Glad you liked the pix

I've done those crazy schedules too. Good luck ! The six days off bit sounds quite attractive

For a while I worked a 32 hour weekend job then a 40 hour weekday job

That was a fun year. And they were in different states 100 miles apart AND I had no car
I was doing all the work to get the money to put my Buick back on the road. Something about a dozen speeding tickets caused me a financial crisis that took years to overcome

Very Well Said. I find myself in the same position when I bring up "tolerance."

Cherrish the time with Katy. They grow up very fast. I have two daughters 25 and 26 and it seems like yesterday they were 6 3/4.
