I was very impressed on what the Senator had to say. I may not agree 100% with everything but at least I feel he believes everything he says and is not just taking a position to get votes. I believe most if not all of the other Republican candidates tell you what they think you want to hear.

99% of politicians tell you what you want to hear. Don't forget, when they get into office, they run in packs. You do what the leader says. Massachusetts has pretty much been unimpeded by political progress since 1620.

I thought he was the one I was going to vote for, until he made that stupid comment while he was touring in a Baghdad open air market, that he felt totally safe walking around Baghdad. (I guess the intent behind that statement and his tour of the city was at the time to prove that US forces had the city under control) well duh, sure you'd feel safe too if you had a large security force safeguarding your well being every where you go.

I had the privilege of running as a delegate for Senator McCain in the NY primary back in 2000. (New York elects nominating convention delegates commited to particular candidates... you can't vote directly for the candidate). It was a great experience meeting Senator and Mrs. McCain on the campaign trail as well as his brother Joe who is just as affable as the Senator. Unfortunately, the Republican Machine in our neck of the woods was solidly behind Dubya, who had all the real politicians running as his delegates. Our ticket lost, but not by as much as we had feared.

I was proud to vote for Al Gore in the general election!

Now it's 2008 and once again the country has an opportunity to consider Senator McCain. I'd sure like to see him nominated but I think his time has passed.

Ah yes..I believe I read somewhere that he was Dubya's second cousin, once removed. Sadly, it seems that George inherited his intellect but not his wit.

I understand that they will say what you want to hear but that is what makes the diff with McCain for me...he isn't afraid to say what a lot of people don't want to hear even though it is what they need to hear (especially on Iraq)

He has the ability to attract independents and Democrats alike, something that the other Republican candidates can't do.

He has my vote and judging by the crowds he has been attracting in NH it may turn out that he has a LOT of NH's vote. Heck I even donated $$ to his campaign after seeing him...that is something I have never ever done before for any candidate

He also has the ability to beat Clinton in the general election.(Thank God)

he was in the Hanoi Hilton when Jane Fonda turned her back on her own people. McCain gets alot of respect from me and can speak on the atrocity of war any day...Dubya on the other hand can shut his fat lying trap!

i have continually been a Dem. my entire life. so has been the majority of my family. McCain gets a nod of approval from me, but sadly to say i dont think America is ready for a straight shooter like the days of old.

McCain is a good honest man, and I believe he says what he truly believes, which is rare in Washington. My problem with him is Campaign Finance Reform. His intentions were honorable, but the end result was stripping away freedom of speech IMO. I like his stand on the war and terrorism, and won't have a problem voting for him if he is the nominee, but I think there are better, and more conservative options at this time.

Goose, it must have been a real thrill to meet McCain in person. He is one person who I would love to sit down with and talk to. I bet he has some great stories to tell.
