Why oh why did I bring an HHR home?

In a word, personality.

I have a 1996 ImpalaSS with perofrmance galore. I wanted to take the beast off the the daily driver curcuit.

Started looking at CR-V, Rav-4, etc...for space (mountain bike/golden retriever in near future) and economy. But got bit by the HHR profile and style.

Read all the Edmunds and Consumer Reports, etc... I could stand for reviews and resale potential, then it dawned on me, I just LIKE the look, feel and personality of the HHR. That was the end of any hand wringing.

I've only had her little over a week, but love the decision.

Great site ya'll have here.

Thanks for letting me on the playground

I had been drving BMW's for the past ten years and was going to get another one, but the customer service at the dealership was crappy. When I saw the HHR SS, I just fell in lust and when I test drove it, I fell in Love. Got rid of the Bimmer and have been happy ever since. I'm sure I'll go back to Bimmers once I'm older and can afford a 7 series, but for now I'm loving life.

Also, is there any way to get a new poll started for SS owners. I'm sure the results would be much different.

Thank you for this thread!!

I def was attracted to the HHR because of ..... style (hello..HHR_style) but was happy to see it had some performance too! With the subtle add-on's it's becoming the perfect vehicle!

I'm a born and bred Chevy guy I needed something with some family room because my single-cab Sierra wouldn't cut it. I liked the looks of them and the fact that there was plenty of space. I was sold when the 6'8 salesman sat in the back seat and didn't have to contort to do it. I test drove it one night and signed the paperwork the next morning

I liked the style of the HHR when it first came out, had been driving PT CRUISERS since 2001 but when I saw the HHR PANEL I knew I had to have one since my summer driver is a 49 WILLYS PANEL, and I have no regrets.

The switch was definately a smart call. The Heritage Hot Rod is far and away a better looking and perfoming vehicle.

I agree that the HHR has a smoother and more powerful little 4-banger but style is a personal opinion. I believe with a little work and imagination any car can be improved on.

I wanted to have a vehicle that had a fun side, but I could not ignore my practical nature. I can haul an amazing amount of stuff in the car, haul the dogs around in it, get excellent fuel economy doing it, and it looks good. I'm not a speed demon, so the 2.2 is plenty for me. It was also $3 grand cheaper than the Cube I was cross shopping with it, AND I was treated by Classic Chevrolet like they actually wanted my buisness. The Nissan dealer next door had me smoking mad when we left due to the B.S. of the salescreature they "paired" us up with.

That is true. But personally I feel like the HHR is the business.
