I replaced my pads and rotors at 150,000 and still could have gone a little longer. I am still on the origional rear brakes at 274,000. I hope to get at least 300k out of those.

On mine I first started getting the "shake" at 50k or so, but the dealer kept telling me it was okay, there was plenty of pad life left, and tha tthe shake was caused by brake pad material sticking to the rotor. The shake would come and go, sometimes not giving me any for a week or tow. Finally, for about a month before my brake replacement the shake quit going away. It would get a little better, but never left.

I drive 20 miles each way to and from work, and that's mainly I-40 and Briley Parkway between Nashville and Mt. Juliet TN. Loads fo stop & go on the way in and out.

That explains a lot. That type of driving is not bad on the brakes.

You should see how it is when you get to certain places. It's from 75 to dead stop, then to 60, then stop, then 70, then stop, then go for 3 miles constantly on the brakes, then... Well, you get the picture.

Every driven through Atlanta? They claim we have some of the worst traffic in the country. But it can be lots of fun also.... I've actually had my bumper rubbed from someone changing lanes...

What was that saying, rubbing racing....

I try to do as much interstate driving as I can, but around Atlanta the evening rush hour last from 3 to 7 pm usually. I get in a lot of stop and go traffic most days, but I think having the 5 speed helps on the brake wear. I go out of town any chance I get just to get away from the Atlanta traffic.

Yea, that's me. I leave at 5:30 to go to work and leave at 3:45 to come home. I usually only end up with a 30-40 commute for my 24 miles each way. Not too shabby.

The stick helps, but you still get those "hey didn't you see me coming towards you at 70 you *#!@*!"

I would hate your hours, but it really helps on the traffic. I usually leave the house around 8:00 and get home whenever I can. I have been known not to get home until the next day. I took another trip to Alabama today so I missed the Friday afternoon rush.

Heh. my dad will be one of these long brakers.. He just bought an 06 with just under 70000 miles on it. He has had it since the beginning of May and now has about 82000 miles on it. He is a courier driver. His last car was an 03 Matrix, in the 400000 miles he had on that vehicle I only changed rear brakes once, fronts lasted about 100000 -120000 each time. Of course he was on motor 3 when a heater hose blew out and seized the motor.

He put 3 motors in that Matrix? I can usually get 400,000 or more out of a motor.
