2 Weeks on Mobil 1 oil
IDK..since changing to M1 my car runs like the one in the Soul commercial, you know, the mice one where the body leaves streaks in the wind! And it's done wonders for my dandruff....! And no oily after taste!
You mean my HHr doesn't run faster after I wash it? :) I agree I never noticed any mpg increase, On my Honda with a wet clutch I t did help alittle with the shifting,a tad smoother but not much, no MPG increase,, I use it for all the reasons mentioned. Changing a dino run car and switching to Mobile 1 you slowly see the color change in the oil at change time..
Now if you wash you car and put a Summit Racing Sticker in the window you will be much faster. If you use a Jegs you may end up on Cops.
The gains are small short term but large long term with Mobil One. That is with any syn fluid for a car. Less break down and better long term life more consistent viscosity.

I just ordered 2 Summit Racing stickers so my HHR will be twice as fast!
I certainly believe in using mfg specified oil, and even go as far as to heed their recommendations, which is why I use Mobil1 in my HHR SS.
I do believe that there are long term benefits to full syn, which is why I also use it in my 2002 S10 and my 1999 F150 because they were somewhat newer when I did the switch.
But I also have to wonder how much more life I'd get out of my 26 year old Chevy Silverado and my 26 year old Suzuki Samurai if I were to switch to Mobil1. I have been running dino oil in them since they were new. I used to change the oil every 3000 miles, but now that I only put about 500 miles max per year on them, I do it once a year. After 26 years, they still are in excellent shape and I don't intend to switch to syn at this point.

For heat...Amsoil beats M1..at least in air cooled motors...Ive run factory recommended syn( not so great) M1..is better..but Amsoil really kept the oil pressure up in high heat (90+ days)were the other two didnt....where factory would drop to below 10 psi ( not a major factor, normal) M1 around 15 to 20..Amsoil would stay above 20,... so factory recommended isnt 'always' the best bet...though in the case of the SS,, nobody has reported any failures or problems ( turbo wise ) with M1 , and thats good! But theres always room for improvement. Really depends on 'how' you drive it.
What factory or MFG recommends Amsoil only to be used in their vehicles? The MFG has to stand behind a 100,000 mile warranty so I am sure they feel that M1 is more than able to handle the load.
The fact is M1 is meets or exceeds all needs of most MFG cars and vehicles. It is also recommended on some of the more expensive cars in the world. Amsoil may be ok but M1 ain't hurting anything either.
Not getting into a oil debate here but all you need to do is use what is recommended or an oil that exceeds the recommendations in SAE ratings and the other ratings. Change it when required and it will be fine.
