2nd cabin air filter & acorn noises?

I saw somewhere that my 2008 has a second cabin air filter accessed under the hood. Did I dream that?

I can hear acorns rolling around. The noise comes from the engine compartment but I can't find them. Suggestions?

Yes, you dreamt that. There is just the engines air filter.

Keep looking for the noise - I don't think we are going to be able to help much with a vague bit of info like that.

You can take the plastic cowl off under the wipers. I bet that's where they are hiding.

I guess that since you can see the cabin filter from the engine compartment, you thought it was a 2nd filter.
(you can see it if the cowl cover is removed as Donbrew said )

Cowl cover.

Cowl cover removed. There's the cabin filter.

Now I can see how all that Debris gets into the Cabin Filter.

It gets strained out a bit thru the top screening but not all ....

All the ones I have changed @ the first 20,000 miles average are filthy. Those were the miles from prior owners.

FWIW.
If you "hear acorns rolling around", I would look inside the air filter housing.
Wouldn't be the 1st time that some little rodent set up house in a HHR. They usually bring a supply of nuts with them.

I've taken that filter out and blew it out with compressed air. If the filter is dry, why not.
If "rats" got into that area, you got a hole somewhere.

Post #6. Why I suggested he should check the air filter housing. Easy access for the little animals to get in there via the "wooly worm" hose.
And they usually bring their snacks with them to their new nest.

You can hear acorns in a air filter housing? Wouldn't you think besides the "snacks" they would bring stuffing to make their nest?
I can see that might be happening if the car sat for sometime.
Ask me about the nest that was made in the V under the TPI of my 83 Monte.
