ac compressor clutch

Has anyone successfully replaced the ac compressor clutch with the compressor in the car and connected. Id like to change mine without opening up the system. Thanks

You can change just the clutch and not worry about opening the system.
Question is ? Do you have the correct puller/installer for it ?

From looking at youtube looks like i need snap ring pliers and two different types of pullers. Am I right? Is there enough room to use the pullers? I think i may replace the whole clutch instead of just the bearing.

You will at least have to disconnect the compressor and pull it up with the hoses attached to give yourself room to work. Once you remove the center of the clutch with a puller (yes you might need that snap ring pliers) you can then remove the 4 bolts and remove the coil magnet. The bearing is part of the coil assembly. Buy a new assembly and save the shims from the old one if there are any. That will set the air gap between the clutch face and magnet.
I'm sure if you go to AutoZone or Pep Boys or Advance you can rent the puller group.
Good luck with the repair.
