Air circulation/fresh air buttons.

Hello, name’s landon and i’m 19. New owner of a beautiful 2010 hhr lt 2.2l. I’m fairly new to cars as I’ve only done minor maintenance work to it. (Air intake hose, oil, tires maintenance, etc) I was wondering though for the past couple months I’ve been driving, I noticed that one or the other of the title mentioned buttons above, will always be on. When I turn the circulation button, the fresh air one comes on automatically. I feel silly for asking, but is this normal?

to the forums!

Recirculating only works in full face and combo face/feet. If you switch to a different mode, it automatically kicks it back to fresh air.

That is an odd design, in my opinion.

It would not be needed in recirc if humans didn't breathe and expel moisture.
In defrost it helps to clear fogged windows. In the desert, you probably don't experience this.
