the problem is cruising down south for the weekend, looking for a car and coming back. The logistics just don't seem to work out right now.....maybe though

There is an airline , don't remember the name right now, that flies from Niagara Falls,NY (my area) to Orlando one-way for $39. There may be a cheapo flight from your area too. Of course, you would have to rent a car to look for the HHRs in Orlando but if time is a constraint you wouldn't have to spend a couple days driving down and wouldn't need a second driver to drive your car (or the new HHR) back. Driving my HHR down and back would cost me about $250 in gas.

I am looking for a few more used cars for more kids that are getting licenses and hopefully will be going south within the next month. I am hoping to not have to go to Florida but halfway or so which would be within an 8-12 hour drive back. I have been looking at Kentucky, N.Carolina, and Virginia, but Orlando/Tampa have the best selection by far.

Took me a year to find mine. Originally found one that was 9 hours away & dealership sales manager looked into shipping charges for me. I almost pulled the trigger but then I found one and hour and a half away and went with that one instead. CarMax rotates their inventory on a regular basis to keep the inventory 'fresh'. Those transport services are usually done by local independent contractors. Might be good idea to locate one of those guys and ask for rough estimate to have car delivered.

Plan it as a vacation … where you just might buy a car. :thumb:

Just get open-ended return flight or buy a one-way and plan on spending a little extra to get home if you DON'T buy one.
