Sticky Air Filter Replace

Post was very helpful. After the first change any future ones should go easy. I have a 2009 and I found no foam on the underneath of my filter box. Maybe it was discontinued by 2009....or do you think someone would go to all that work of taking off and replacing just to get the foam.(and not have the decency to replace the filter for me)

Not many have it from the factory, it may have been added to the OPs.

Yeah, kinda high for specialty items.
But if I needed one, I would be looking in a wrecking yard. Should be easy to locate one.

Angry Ouch!

Just did mine (of course I did it before looking at this forum) and I have to say that in 40+ years of working on cars and bikes I never bled so much changing an air filter. When the "torches and pitchforks" party happens please count me in!

Thank you Black Rose. I copied and pasted this in Microsoft and printed it out.
Going to do that job today.

Laborkei, another reason to get rid of the factory set up. Thanks.

PT Loser

I like that; PT Loser.

Oh well, I'd say the toughest part was figuring the darn thing out. Once you know what to do, it's fairly easy. Look for a black bracket attached to the block with 13 mm bolts, then you have to worm it through the wiring. I did the air filter on my girlfriend's pt loser yesterday, and it took a total of three minutes. I guess that's what we get for owning an American car made in Mexico with a German engine. Lol

Did mine in 30 minutes or less. Thanks again.

Now what brand/filter should one use?

Obviously you should use the brand that my great-grandfather swore by, and is now made by $2 a week Chinese workers.

When will people learn to not ask "brand" questions on the internets?

Hi, I'm fairly new to the group and just wanted to say hello. I replaced the stock paper filter with a K & N the first year after I bought the car and boy I wish I had seen the post by Black Rose first. It was a major pain to replace... Seems like car manufacturers just try to make what should be an easy repair/replacement, harder.
