How did you do that? Is it a kit or did you make the pipe and adaptor? What did you do about the wiring plug that goes into the the air intake pipe?

When I canged my air filter I unbolted the the two scres on the engine block and removed the whole mount. Easier then messing with that torx screw.

its not a kit, its custom made. just bent and cut some pipe ( 2 1/2" i think) welded the pipe to some sheet metal that was cut it out slightly smaller than the radius of the filter housing, cut the bottom of the housing out, and riveted the sheet metal to the filter housing. as for the mass air flow sensor, i ordered a weld on receptacle from gmpartsdirect, and bolted it on. the MAF receptacle is aluminum, and the pipe is steel, so i didn't want to try welding it up. i might get a better picture tomorrow. i did my first filter change last weekend with the new setup, and yeah, it only took about a minute.

Wow! This looks really confusing.... What happened to the olden days, like on my truck! I think I should probably check my filter, since the HHR is 3 years old...

OK, I'm going in tomorrow. Got my K&N, have the 'How to" photos and the tools. Should be done in a couple of days.

Been driving and working on cars for over 52 years, and it's came to this. How sad.

Nice job on that, I really like it.
Gives it a nice old school, retro look under the hood...
