Hello first time posting. Have done a lot of research and read quite a bit on here about similar problems, but am struggling. I have hooked up my friend’s multimeter to my camshaft sensors but am unfamiliar with its use and can not find a Manuel for it online. I’m pretty sure I’m doing the resistance check properly but don’t fully understand if the readings I am getting. On the exhaust sensor I am getting a reading of 20.56 and on the intake it’s 0.811. Please help.

Why not just replace the VVT valves, those codes have nothing to do with the sensors. With all of those codes it would be worth your time to make sure that all of the wires to the VVT valves are not burned, frayed or otherwise compromised
I have no idea what C342D is on a HHR. On some other cars it has something to do with the throttle position sensor

Thank you, I really don’t care that the check engine light is on, the car idles smoothly and doesn’t seem to have any loss of power it just seems as if it’s running through gas faster than I think it should. The vehicle belongs to my aunt but she is allowing me to use it with the possibility she may sell it to me. With that said I don’t have any real history with it to base my fuel mileage off of, it just seems to be using it fast. It does have a feature that tells me the MPG but I don’t really trust it. But you are telling me that even though the codes reference the cam shaft actuators and people seem to be replacing those when Google searched that it is the “VVT valves”(variable valve timing I assume)?
I just looked and what I was testing the resistance on was the Camshaft Actuator Solenoid. Not the actual camshaft sensor. That’s what I saw being replaced when I looked this up.
unrelated I used to live in Stafford for about 2 years, went to North Stafford High. Beautiful part of the country, a real shock for a boy from Oklahoma.
USMC brat?
My cousin from New Mexico got claustrophobic when she came here for a visit. We have trees everywhere and rolling hills.
The VVT valves are the solenoids they are near #1 spark plug under the air cleaner. They will cause a dramatic MPG loss because without them functioning the computer is running in open loop with no feedback from sensors, just guesses.
Most times people don't read the entire description of codes and don't see a difference between the sensors and the solenoids and the actuators since they all have similar words in their actual names.
The CEL is not a problem to fix it is a warning that something is broken.
I bet the oil does not get changed as often as needed or with the correct oil.
