From what I have been reading seems fairly common to find a broke Coil Spring !
I am now in the broke coil spring club and broke speaker club (now replaced ) lol
Just had both my coil springs replaced ,
Funny the seem to break in the same area !
And living in the rust belt does take it toll !
And for a low priced car my 2011 1LT has been great wish they still made them

I just had both Coil Springs changed on my 2011 1LT as they were broken around the 1st coil!

I am just curious if this is common ?

I have seen a few post about them being broke !
I do live in the rust belt if that matters
For a low priced car this HHR has been great !
I would buy another one if they still made them !

Glad you got it fixed. Did it seem to change the original ride height? Would love to know precisely what they were replaced with, maker and part number, if you know.

I still have my OEM FE3 rear coil springs in the garage corner, brand new like mile wise, just dusty..

Those Cobalt SS/TC rear coils are still doing fine & dandy.

Are those from your 2008 panel? Would it be too much trouble to provide the part number from the tags if they’re there? And the free length? I’m still collecting data.

Yea I would say a little higher! Not much but the ride is firmer and taking corners not getting any body roll or so it seems.
But that was not bad before either, It does seem to hug the road a bit better,
That could be Psychosomatic or I am just Psycho lol
I was surprised they were broke in about the same spot !
But they do seem to make the HHR a bit more fun to drive lol

LOL, breaking your springs is the easy way to lower your HHR!

(Sorry for late reply) Yes they are the originals from my '08 Panel, orange label has a large 221 printed, then below is part # 2271221, (both have same #'s) free length is right at 13"..
I have the 2 wound together, since I put them away, so the 13" is a very close approximation.

Hope this helps..
