Engine oil bolt hard to get off!

I have a 2010 HHR doing the second oil change. Is it me or is the bolt hard to come off. The first oil change I took the car in now its time for a second one. I am a female but I dont remember any of my street bikes being this hard to get off.

ARG!! Kinda frustrating since I have everything to do it.

As long as it torqued properly it should loosen easily.

IMO....

There is something wrong, here.

When I change my oil, it takes just a slight effort with a box end to "brake it loose". I then turn it the rest of the way with my fingers, allowing the bolt to drop in the drain pan.....it has a screen that will catch any small parts.

When I reinstall, I turn it by hand all the way to snug, then a little tug with the box end to assure of no leaks. To much "tugging" with the wrench compresses/collapses the rubber washer and will cause premature replacement.

I think the oil pan bolt torque is about 25 PSI, which is just above finger tight.

Are you sure the bolt is not cross threaded?

Yeah, shouldn't be that tight. Sounds like someone was a little too tight happy.

It appears that the first person to change the oil over torqued it. I would take it back to them.

Also has anyone ever found a good placement for jack stands on this car? Cant go near the edge anywhere.

Anyone ever heard of a puralator oil filter? Thats all they had at auto zone. Didnt have any ac delco.

I have ramps that I drive mine up onto to change the oil. Puralator Oil filter is ok, I normally buy Fram.

the bolt is steel and the pan is aluminum. highly unlikely as it hasnt been there long enough but when you put those two metals in close proximity like that they will eventually corrode together. just needs to be broken loose. i get my filters at the dealer. ask them if they will give you a bulk price. i usualy buy in tens at a price of about 4 bucks each

a fumoto valve would end this issue forever. i would not use one if your hhr is lowered, though.
