Question if you position the car on an incline such as Ramps would this help with keeping the oil from just shooting out? Maybe it would help keep it more controlable?
Mine always lands in the pan I use. AS you can tell, it's not a small one (15qt I think). most cars these days either have the drain to the rear or the side. I like the rear drain and uphill, gets a good drain IMO.

I need to get a bigger/better drain pan.

I bought one of those pans that doubles for used oil storage, but it's too tall, oddly shaped, and not long enough. I need to find one that is lower and longer.

No one seemed to have a problem with the 32 mm socket? The picture at the beginning shows a nice 32 mm socket with a reduced head on the drive end. I couldn't get my standard Craftsman 32 MM ½" drive socket down on top of the cap without a couple hous of work with grinder. I had to shorten the socket, and cut down it's massive head. Is that a plastic intake manifold on my 2.4 L engine?

I had the same problem. I didnt want to have to buy a socket I would rarely use so I went Autozone and got a loaner 32mm. Well that was way too tall and didnt work with the manifold so close. I used a crescent wrench. Snaked it down between the harness and then a light tap cracked the seal open.

BY far the easiest car Ive ever changed oil on. Filled er up with Mobil 1 and a Wix oil filter. Whole thing took 20 minutes.

I saw that problem before I loosened the drain plug. I cut a plastic tea bottle with a diagonal cut to make a large, disposable deflector funnel and just used that to direct the oil into the pan.

Exclamation Mobile1, change filter at 3K but not oil?

I have not been able to find anything that says you can change the filter every 3,000 miles without changing the oil. Is it possible, I didn't want to try it and make a mess- figured I would ask first. These filters look like they get pretty beat up, too much so to let it go to 10-12K miles.
