Jounce Bumper for rear springs - Where to find!?
My foam bumps on the Jounce Bumpers/Bumps broke off while doing a rear coil change. I have identified the part I need to replace them but they are discontinued and sold out EVERYWHERE. Any suggestions?
Here is a link to the part, GM #25993737: https://www.gmpartsgiant.com/parts/g...-25993737.html I am aware of the similar part number 19352221 , but that is not for the LS model. I am unsure what the difference is. Trying to get these springs in, but can't get too far with broken Jounce Bumpers.... Any suggestions/help would be appreciated! |
LS should be the same as LT, SS might be different.
From the Amazon reviews: 5.0 out of 5 stars 19352221 25993737 and 25993736 are the exact same partReviewed in Canada on September 7, 2023 Only numbers and color variation. Same part, same material, same measure. And for this order I actually received one part that is 25993737 and the other is 25993736. Both were ordered as a 19352221 part. I don't know where the 19352221 part number comes from. All this is a bit strange but now you know that these numbers represent the same piece of original equipment. |

Report If I just put in my model on the GM Website 2008 HHR LS, it says it will fit fine. If I put in my VIN which identifies that I don't have the FE5 suspension it says it will NOT fit. So strange! As long as they appear physically the same and I won't hurt my car, I will grab 2 of the 19352221. I just wish they didn't make it so confusing! Thank you greatly for your help. |
I would think the SS bumper might be a bit shorter than the LS/LT; maybe 1/2 inch.

Rear spring insulator / jounce
I've read posts about the rear spring insulator, and I'm curious if anyone has confirmed (by installation) that part 19352221 is a valid replacement for 25993737. I'm in great need!

I can confirm that part 19352221 is a valid replacement for 25993737. I ordered 19352221 and put it side by side:
https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.che...d53d2d950d.jpg On the right is old part #25993737 from my 2008 LS. It is missing the foam insulator and is purple. On the left is part #19352221 which I bought as a replacement. The dimensions are all the same, the material is the same. The only real difference is the new one is black instead of purple. I have 19352221 installed and it works just fine in my LS. I have about 1,000 miles on them, no issues. I order from walmart, $55/each: https://www.walmart.com/ip/GM-193522...per/1697342022 |
A big thanks!
Thanks for the quick reply. I was a little gun shy about buying 1935221 for my 2008 LS, but your photos and installation comments put me at ease! I plan to have my mechanic buy for both sides (and bottom insulators too). Love to drive my HHRs (Imperial blue 2008 LS with 30K miles and red 2007 panel LS with <20K miles).
First post on HHR forum - and it worked out great! |

Thanks for the welcome! I have two 19352221 upper units on order. While the HHR is down for installation I thought it would be good to change the lower insulators too. They are 25993738 (was 10362783) - and to my surprise they cannot be located anywhere. Luckily mine don't look too bad. If anyone has any knowledge of where I can get the lower insulators I would appreciate it. Thanks
It looks like a person could fabricate one out of a flat rubber slab ... good or bad idea? Thickness dimension? If anyone has the dimensions of the rear coil spring lower seat I may try to design a polyurethane replacement. I have a relative with a 3D printer - I might see if he can make them in polyurethane. If I have to, I will take dimensions of the old lower seats when we install the new uppers (would prefer to try to make them up ahead). Just purchased a 3D printer - capable of TPU (polyurethane) construction. It may take me some time to shake off the rust of my design experiences, but, I will attack the lower spring seat first and then maybe the upper insulator / jounce assembly. It may be a few weeks, but I'll leave an update if I'm successful. Last thought - unfortunately 'proprietary' issues prevent me from getting dimensional info ... I will have to make due with the existing spring seats. Hopefully they continue to look OK after I get the upper jounce units and start the re-assembly. |
