K & N Air Filter

I ordered a K&N air filter that replaces the stock one. I got it at Auto Zone for $ 47.00 not to bad. I was wondering if anyone had any advise to pretreating it or any information that might help. I have to pick it up tomorrow. I let you guys know if I notice anything significant. I hoping for a better sound.

Typically a K+N filter comes sealed in plastic and is already oiled and ready to install. At least all the ones I have bought were....

I just put one in my car last saturday..Unwrap it put it in thats it.. Check it in a few months especially if you live in a dusty area if it's really dirty, get the recharge kit and follow the directions..You won't hear any diffrence in sound..You may notice a slight difference in performance..Mine seems to accelerate a lilttle better, and should notice some improved gas milage after i run this tank of gas thru it..Going to check it for a few fill ups see if there is a improvement..There should be the really do help a car breathe better...Jeff

Drop it in and go.

Mines been in for a couple of years now. You won't see a performance or mileage increase, it's only wishful thinking. But you also won't have to buy a new filter every year. Check every year or so and see how it looks. DOn't try and keep it looking new, thats not how they recommend keeping them. The say clean every 50K miles, but your driving are may make that longer or shorter intervals.

cool!! Thanks for the advise. I guess it was wishful thinking. I use to have a Acura a couple of years ago and when I put in the K&N it sound better, and it was noticeable.

What he said^

It comes pre-oiled.

Also, when cleaning and re-oiling be very careful to not over oil it. That will cause more problems then under oiling, and is the most common thing that people do. Follow the instructions!

Overall, they are good filters, but don't expect much of a gain, if any...

They sell a recharge kit for about $10. Will do the filter numerous times.

He is correct, and never use WD-40 or any other lubricant, only use the oil made for filters (K&N recommended). If you use other products you could damage your MAF sensor!
