Key Fob Batt Low

I've had my 06 for just over 6 years. 122k miles, replaced brakes and tires and even the battery to the key fobs a few times. Well they finally wore out. I tried the DIY method on these forums but did a real bad job with the soldering. So I broke down and bought 2 new fobs last week via ebuy. Then I tried a few locksmiths/garages to get them programmed. No dice. Only the dealer could do it. $55 later, I have 2 shiny new key fobs that feel like they have a trigger finger on the buttons! Not a bad thing compared to smacking my old fob against my hand to shake up the insides to make it work! Anyway...just reprogrammed them less than 6 hours ago and driving home today I see the msg "KEY FOB BATT LOW". Never saw that one in 6 years and several battery replacements on the old ones. Anyone else see a msg like that? Plus, how does the car know the battery is low??? Creeeeeepyyyyy

I've seen that message on ours. I probably bases it on the strength of the signal.

I had same issue for key fob purchased on e-bay, they were junk , had to repair my originas, that was 2 years ago and they still work fine, the e-bays are now just in my collection of spare parts for the key pad and cases

Not an 'issue'. Ours are the originals; not from eBay. We've had the car since 2005.....The low battery warning came on because the batteries were low, I replaced the batteries....first hers and then later, mine.
