Is my timing chain hanging right? Pictures

Posted about this repair some time ago and just wanted to verify that my chain looks tight. Is there supposed to be any droop?

thx

Ouch!!! Maybe that’s the ticking noise I’ve been hearing. I don’t see any metal shavings so I guess that’s good. Why would it be this loose after everything replaced?

Did you activate the tensioner? 9 months, I would expect catastrophic failure if it hadn't been activated, or hadn't activated itself automatically shortly after install. How many miles since the replacement?

Around 7k miles at least… I’ll give er a good whopp and see if it tightens up… Gonna hate if I have to tear the front off again…

Well, I gave it a good whack with a wooden dowel and the whitish colored plastic guide broke. Perfect.

Well I got her done in a solid days work. The culprit was a bad tensioner! The chain was one tooth out of alignment as well. New front seal…

Anybody aware of how these tensioners go bad? I couldn’t really see any damage to any of its components. It felt a little sticky, but it was in the extended position. Very curious…

Runs so much smoother now, and no more noise! Love my little fella… thx

What brand chain kit did you first install?
