Has anyone ever seen or used G Oil? its a full synthetic motor oil that is 100% USA made. I want to know if it is up to GM standards for running in my SS. I can't really find anything to say it does. Its an official oil of the American Le Mans series. If they use it, I would think its ok to use in my car, but I'm concerned about what GM has to say. Input please.

 

I don't know if I would start using it in my primary vehicle - especially if it's still under warranty and not paid off.
I have an old Toyota pickup that I might try it in, but I want to find out a little more information for myself.
Specifically, if they guarantee that it won't gum up my engine and if it does will they pay to fix it.
Your best bet would be to call GM Customer Assistance Technical Support Division.
Might want to ask them if this G-Oil is approved for use in GM vehicles?
I would be worried that if you use it first that it might void your GM Drivetrain Warranty.

Sounds like a big marketing ploy to sell more beef..... You'll be driving behind an older vehicle with blow by, get a whiff, then head to the supermarket thinking-

Beef-it's whats for dinner

 

Always funny to hear that line. Aren't livestock farts blamed for 'global warming'? and I'll bet the ranchers and processors use lots of petrochemicals including coal for energy.

GM will be of no help. They have a specification and if that spec is on the bottle, it's safe to use.

 

The spec to look for is GM4718M for an SS and GM6094M for a non-SS unless its a 2011 which calls for the Dexos spec. Looking at the Green Earth Technologies site, there is no mention of their conventional nor their full synthetic oil meeting GM spec.

 

Yes I've heard of it. Yes it's good oil. Yes people need to do more research.

 

Carbon-neutral derived oil in a vehicle that burns fuel that isn't carbon-neutral derived...........how much difference would it make?

 

it's on sale at wal-mart 21.00 dollar rebate for 5 qts. total cost 5.00 for 5 qt container.. found on slickdeals.

 

As stated earlier, it doesn't meet either GM spec.
