Oil filter cap removal
Oil filter cap removal
Just joined up so this has probably been discussed before, but, I need to ask. I find that getting the oil filter cap off is a gigantic hassell. Have to use big pliers to grip the top "nut" and reef on it. There are so many tubes and cables in the way that I can't turn it more than 1/4th turn each time. Is there a special tool? Also, why not a screw on cartridge filter?, Chevy botched this one.

No flex extension needed. Just put the stubby socket by itself on the cap first, then slide a 12" extension straight down past the bracket and into the socket.
At least it works on an SS.
As far as using pliers: PLEASE say you didn't do that.

It's just like any other oil change, except easier. If you don't have the proper tools, it's going to make it a bit harder.
