Oil filter cap seal

I use a ACDelco PF457G filter when I do an oil change. A lot of times I find the top is opened on a new filter. I always thought the large O ring for the cap came included and people where taking it out of the box. I found by Google that the filter with the seal is PF478G. Just to pass this on.

Yeah, I think there is another part number for oil filter, the cap and oring.

PF458G

I just checked on Amazon and their fit tool states these don’t fit an HHR!?

But RockAuto shows it does fit...

Every filter (not ACDelco) I ever bought included the filter O-ring. You can get a new cap, it probably comes with one.

Fwiw.
Years ago, when I got my SS, I was one of "those" people who would open up the filter boxes and take a look. None of the AC Delco filters came with the O-ring.
All the other brands had one in the box.
I wonder if some of the people who buy the AC Delco filter will take the O-ring from another brands box ?

Maybe that's because GM never mentions changing the O-ring, onl;y when replacing the cap.-

Most likely so Don. Just wonder why all the other companies felt the need to include the O-ring.

Tid bit. Since GM changes vendors(parts makers) on a regular basis, that AC Delco could be made about anywhere. I remember some of those AC Delco oil filters I looked at long ago were made in Hungary.

I used to have the parts guy open the box & if it didn't have an O-ring, I would have him open other boxes & get me one.

And the kicker is: I'm still using the OEM O-ring, but have a nice collection of O-rings. And the AC Delco's I used to use were stamped Made in USA.

No mystery here.
AC Delco and most of the other brands, packages these oil filters 3 different ways under 3 different part numbers.
The filters only are also sold as packs of 6 or 12 under 2 more part numbers.
