I don’t know what GM officially calls it but “intake cam phaser control solenoid valve” would be accurate. Military just reverses everything and puts the noun first, followed by a list of adjectives. If that ain’t enuff, “intake cam variable valve timing phaser control solenoid valve” wouldn’t be wrong either.

But when we say “solenoids” we know what part we're talking about. Just don’t let anyone call them “sensors”!

You can see why regular oil changes are in order. The orifices are much smaller than the picture depicts.
