One of my HHR's headlight bulbs just burnt out.
I've been wanting to fit new headlights on the car for some time now and this looks like the opportunity, especially considering I'd have to get inside of the wheel well just to change that bad bulb, so it's part-way started juat doing that.
How much of a pain is it to remove the front bumper cover? Do the clips fail the first time they're ever messed with? And is there a good source for the friction fasteners that hold the wheel well liner in place, because one or three of those things usually break every time they're pulled out.

The front bumper cover is pretty easy to remove, I just get new push pins from AZ or OR the others are usually reusable

 

I replaced pass side headlight bulb the other day, remove a couple of pin fasteners and a screw, then you can reach in between the fender and the fender well plastic to change the bulb.

 

Be patient and gentle when removing the bumper cover, and do it on a hot day if possible. The snap tabs on the aging plastic are easy to break.

Apologies for not responding sooner and I appreciate all the comments from a few weeks back.
I finally got the new headlight assemblies and am getting set to install them, but I have one further question for the group:
The Haynes manual cautions to be mindful of the air bag sensors built into the front end. Rather than disconnect the battery, is there a master fuse for the airbag system than can be pulled to disarm it instead of messing with the battery?

 

You have a 2009? Just disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery. It's really easy. If you pull a fuse, you may forget to reinstall it, and be injured or worse, if there were a collision.

 

The sensor is on the radiator cradle , not near the front bumper or the headlights.

 

I thought the thing on the hood latch was an impact sensor?
