Thanks! Don't worry about it.... I was going to go to the dealer because a friend works there and can get me his discount, so I was going to see how much that was...

Actually no, I never did get one...lol.

But now my HHR is put away in storage. It's cheaper to insure my Lumina so I'm driving that now anyways.

after 7 years we're dying to find out everyone's experiences with their oil. i personally have put over 15,000 miles (twice) on a nissan quest with synthetic oil and fram filter and the engine is still running as strong as when i bought it. oil and filters looked and smelled like they could take more use/abuse.

If your oil has a bad smell likely its too late. You can NEVER judge oil by sight, or any other human sense for that matter. Some oils are different colors. The Pennzoil Ultra Platinum I used for a couple cycles went in very light amber and came out reddish. Other oils go in a darker shade, come out black. Best way to test life of oil is to send in for analysis. Second best and nowhere near as good is a "feel" test; just run it in between your fingers and judge its slipperiness. The key to oil is how well it lubricates.

And search a little more, the subject comes up too many times; almost to the point of "trolling".

Bottom line is: any oil that has a Dexos label and is 5W30 is what can be used. The 5W30 part is very important, especially on cars with VVT. Most semi and full syn oils are Dexos labelled.
