Slowing down noise believe to be in front?
Slowing down noise believe to be in front?
Wife's 06 HHR LT has had rear wheel bearings replaced within 90 days....when last aerviced, wheels rotated and front rotors turned, brakes had 3/16" per mechanic. Now when she comes to a stop at a light, you hear a diminishing noise seems from left front. If rotors were turned, would any play in front wheel bearing be notice during this procedure? Has only 135,000 on it owned 36 months...avering 130 a month to keep on the road! Not happy to read HHRs with250,000 miles for sale. I need 2 more years out of this loaded 06 Black beauty. She loves the car, I only write the checks. Any advice? Thanks friends
Wjy were the rotors turned instead of replaced? About $10 difference.
3/16 of what? Turned on the car or off it?
Wear noticed by a mechanic that was not asked and is evidently not very good. Not likely. Not hard to check yourself; walk up to the wheel, grab the top and push/pull; if you can feel movement the bearing is bad. End play spec is .005 inch.
Have you looked at the LCA bushings?

Checked filer and the roters were " turned out, plenty left." Owner told me brakes pada were at 3/16th and due for replacement soon. He knows, as I do, this HHR can be a money pit. Changed garages after replacing blower motor and resistor (3 tries) to later discover a wire into BCM center console driver's side when moved would stop blower motor. Was the motor and resistor replaced unnecessarily? I'll never know. Thanks for your advice.
