As a matter of fact yes I did. It was a defective battery , one cell would not charge, there were enough volts and amps to start it but similar things did not work.

Is the new battery the correct amperage for the HHR? Was it fully charged?

1. Remove Plastic panel to make room.

2. remove spare tire.

3. Remove negative battery cable.

4. Remove very carefully the battery vent tube.

5. Remove the positive battery cable.

6. Remove the hold down clamps.

Reverse all above to re install.

trunk wouldn't open and on my 2010 the morons never bothered to put a emergency release so i had to do this in the 93 degree heat.

not sure never tested it, bought at advance auto parts. sort of didn't have time to do all that stuff, sadly. had to be to work at 6pm and didn't have access to multimeter etc. i'll check everything and follow up.

The maxi-fuse powers the BCM. I am suggesting that it got jiggled loose or blown. All of your symptoms are BCM related.
fuse is great, pulled it and everything cut off. re seated fuse, checked connections car started.

nope same symptoms, no radio, keyless entry etc. don't really have any more time to troubleshoot it. im thinking like you are something somewhere with the BCM fuses, however they look good, not blown? if part of computer is fried, i don't know what im going to do.

You replaced the battery. Just prior, was there a jumpstart or charge attempt?

Have you checked all related fuses, by swapping with known good fuses, in both fuse panels?

i attempted to jumpstart, however only left cables on the car for about 3 minutes.

haven't swapped fuses yet. really have run out of time (due to work) to troubleshoot on my own.

all dash warning lights illuminate when i start car, Check engine light doesn't stay on. that's what makes me think its either a fuse or a short somewhere.

the bigger maxi fuses in engine compartment are tight and very hard to pull im afraid ill damage them by pulling them out. the 50 amp max fuse by battery was good. and all the other fuses i checked (visually) appeared fine. i pushed each fuse/relay down to ensure they were making good connections. i'm really hoping its just a fuse.

What RJ was getting at is where exactly did you connect the jumper cables? There have been a few unexplained failures by people who swear they did it right and more that did it wrong.
