Having racing in my family I've seen the ups n downs with different oils.. Couple years ago we did a test with every oil you could buy off the shelf .. Mobil 1 ran n lasted better than anything else you can buy at your local stores. Pennzoil is a joke. Castrol's alright. Valvoline blew our motor up (and yes it was the oils fault, we even sent oil to Valvoline after the blow up and they admitted to it being their oil) .. But yeah.. I won't run anything but Mobil 1 Full Syn. Royal Purple is just over rated and Ams Oil is pretty good stuff but you gotta order that.

We've used it in my truck since '94, and that is one of the cleanest engines around....

Just my opinion though.

Thanks for all the great responses everyone. I'm leaning heavily towards Mobil 1 at this point.

I have used Mobil 1 just about since it came in in the late 70's. I currently run it in a Ford Procuct, a Toyota and my HHR. I have never had an engine lubrication related problem in anything I have run it in, which over the years has been a wide variety of vehicles. You probably don't want to buy it from the dealer, however, they charge way too much for it. You can pick up a five quart container of it, at WalMart, or ????, and just give it to whoever is servicing your car.

Does anyone know how much a dealer might typically charge for Mobil 1? I have $40 to spend at a dealer every 6 months, so I just wondered. If it costs me less than $22 than it's worth it for me, so that means the dealer would have to sell it for no more than $62 for 5qts.

I've never taken one of my cars to a dealer for an oil change but it runs nearly $50 for 5 quarts and a filter on my wife's mazda 3.

Well that's the thing.... The only time I've ever taken any of my cars to the dealer was the HHR because I had a coupon for a free oil change. I was just thinking of buying the quarts from the dealer, and still changing it myself.

I got one of those too. It's the least they could do for the poor attitude of they salesman and lack of any follow-up whatsoever after I bought my car.
